There’s been too much grief on this blog, thanks to a certain exam. It’s time to spread a little sunshine with some door prizes!!
I’m going to send a CCNP SWITCH Cert Kit to the first five people who meet the following criteria:
- You have failed to pass the 642-813 SWITCH exam
- You don’t already have a CCNP SWITCH Cert Kit
If I’ve just described you, then email me at dave@hucaby.net and provide your full name and shipping address. I’ll take care of the rest.
For those who don’t know, the Cert Kit contains a DVD with over five hours of screen recording video of me working through about 20 different LAN switching lab scenarios. The DVD is really more like a mini course. Each lab begins with the theory behind a switch feature, then covers the configuration and testing on actual switches. The Cert Kit also contains the CCNP SWITCH Cert Flash Cards and Quick Reference booklet. It’s a $54 value — yours today for… FREE!
By the way, this is just the first round of giveaways. Stay tuned for more!

I already have the kit,but just to inform the ones that do not have it is an excellent study tool. The sections on SW QOS are one of the best and clearer that I have seen. When I bought it I did not know much about it,but with insight I would buy it again.Recent efforts from Cisco Press have shown more user friendly and easier to understand materials. The only thing I would improve is the availability of practical scenarios at the end of each chapter. No reason to have a separate book for that.I think that the average CCNP candidate has changed from being questions seeker to someone who has access to labs and who wants to be able to practice what he has learned in keeping with a tough job market.

Wow David!
What a generous thing to do. I already have your kit though, but good luck to those that hope to win one. Definitely worth it!
Can’t wait for future prizes though!

Taking the test this Friday, will let you know how it goes! And hopefully there might be a few kits left for such a generous offer.

Can I have a voucher for the BCMSN Exam kindly offered from Cisco or Ciscopress instead?

Good idea! Vouchers would make much cooler door prizes.

Aha~! I postponed the test about 3 times, and I’ll schedule it later today for Saturday. I already failed once, I’d love to have a voucher!

Wow… A great consolation prize
However I have owned this cert kit. I bought your book and video mentor together as a package at a discounted rate from ciscopress.com
Apart from this switch video mentor I have also bought your firewall handbook as well as firewall video mentor, initially wanted to learn ASA while waiting for the new switch exam, but now the switch exam has consumed a lot of my time and I forgot about how to configure ASA

i was thinking that may be some of us could contribute to this blog. you set a topic and word count suggestion. we write a artical in the same layout you posts are in. send them to you email and if you think one is good enough it will get posted to the blog. (maybe under a seperate sub section) one topic per month, with may be a small prise for any that make the grade. The topics don’t have to be the ones you are working on, they could be ones already in the book’s but its a great way to learn reserching an artical, and we could help incress the blog coverage of topics.
Just an idea don’t know what you or other people think?

Any update on winners yet?

My apologies for the delay – total chaos at the day job…
So far, everyone who entered is a winner! We went beyond five, but who cares? I’ll get the Cert Kits packaged up and sent out over the weekend.
Thanks for playing!

Hi Aaron,
I’m glad to hear you got the video package. Why wait until your baby is quiet before watching? A few minutes watching switch features unfold, and you’ll both be asleep!
Best regards,

Have found the time to watch a few now
, this has been grea timing as they are perfect for refreshing and filling in some blanks now I ahve got the time to get back in to studying.
Would love to get the SWITCH exam out of the way by Augest and start on the ROUTE.
One thing that I think is missing from the cert guide is more info on SONA and PPDIOO model. I found trying to find out about SONA on the internet even is hard as there seems to be slightly different takes on it. with different documents using different terms for the different levels.
Once again though thanks for the videos.

What is the best way to get this kit given that I am based outside the US (Australia). Just get it online from Cisco Press?
Cheers,
Darren

10/07…I was feeling good, took the test…and got a 786 out of 790. I was upset at first because the sim didn’t work the way it should (two technologies had issues, basic commands) but I won’t go into that. I only got a 55% on the planning part. So that’s what I’m working on…any more cert kits left? I used the OCG and FLG, not sure what else I’m missing, but I’ll take all the help I can!

Hi Dave
I worked in electrical engineering for 25 yrs before discovering Cisco.
The certain exam you refer to has me going spare and has alluded me three times.
If youv’e any more freebies I’d appreciate one.
Merry Xmas

Failed the exam a couple of moths ago… I’ll try again in the near future, and a CertKit would be great

How about this: Find a mistake in the exam guide no in the errata, win a door prize.
No credit for BCMSN mistakes I found in former versions, of course. (Was good book – about to read 642-813)
